What is PT100

PT100 is the most common resistor -type temperature detector (RTD). PT100 is 100 ohm at 0 ° C. At 100 ° C, the resistance is 138.5 ohm.

PT100 is a common choice for the measurement temperature of the industrial process and laboratory measurement. Because of their stability, accuracy, and repetitiveness, they are a popular choice. They are often selected rather than armocouple, because people believe they are more accurate. At the same time, users are usually not accurate, but repetitive. Users may see a slight change in temperature reading, which may not be a key issue. Repeatability is more critical, so it can ensure that the same results are obtained at a temperature of each reading.

PT100 is a high -precision temperature sensor. This is a very suitable sensor in a noisy environment, the surrounding generators, mechanical noise, motor and high voltage.

RTD has become the industry standard. In history, RTDS is quite fragile and is made of ceramics and fine metal wires. They cannot handle vibration or impact well, and they are relatively expensive compared to the thermocouple. The application environment needs to be carefully analyzed to ensure applicability. The recent RTDS is manufactured by a plane film component. These are cheap, not easy to occur. As the temperature rises, the accuracy of the flat film decreases. However, because most applications are below 250 ° C, this is not a major problem.

The price of RTD is usually 20-30% higher than the thermocouple, and when you use a device that can measure very high temperature, the RTD will become very expensive due to the required materials and manufacturing technology. With the innovation of the past 10 years, RTD has become cheaper and stronger.

For lower temperature measurement, as the price of thermal resistance decreases, the PT100 usually has become an industry standard.

There are many types of RTD, but the PT100-IEC751 has become the most widely used RTD. For specific applications, PT1000, nickel and copper elements can be supplied. The PT1000 cancels the requirements for compensation for the lead, and other components will replace the system installed many years ago.
