Will the insulation thickness affect the length of the hot sleeve U -shaped?

The tip of the thermal tube must be immersed in at least 2 mm in the liquid to measure the temperature (according to the API 551)

In the two-phase service, it is also recommended that the cutting-edge must go to the liquid phase to obtain better measurement (PIP standard:-temperature measurement standard)

Highlight 6 "is usually used as the rule of empirical, and it is calculated based on the U length, so that the tip of the thermal sleeve can be inserted at least 2 mm or more in the process. (Depending on the customer standard)

Now considering the design temperature is updated later. At this time, due to changes in temperature, the thickness of insulation increases.

Does this insulation change affect the length of the hot sleeve U -shaped?

Good engineering practice is a gap between 100 mm (4 inches) between the insulation layer and the nozzle. This is followed by the standard, because whenever we need to remove the heat suite, if the insulating layer does not reach the nozzle, then we must cut off the insulating material to reach the bolt. This is not a good habit.

Therefore, for the insulation between 0 and 50 mm, we can have a standard highlight of 150 mm (6 inches)

But when the insulation is 100 mm, it must be increased to 200 mm (8 inches)

Gap (100 mm) = protrusion (200 mm) - Insulation thickness (100 mm)
Similarly, if the insulation layer is 150 mm, it must be increased to 250 mm (10 inches), which is pushed according to this.

So the relationship is as follows

Insulation (on the pipeline) >> Impact >> Outstanding (nozzle) >> Impact >> U -shaped length (thermocouple puppet tube)
Therefore, we must cross -verification before the purchase, which will be affected by insulation!
