Most new oil and gas fields are concentrated in Siberia and northeast. The increase in mining activities in these areas, as well as the demand for petroleum and natural gas in the local area, has led to the increasing demand for temperature measurement solutions that can withstand low environmental temperatures. Specially designed low -temperature -resistant thermometer -with PT100 sensors and cold -resistant materials -it is very suitable for monitoring and controlling the petrochemical factory located under the extremely cold climate.
Standard temperature monitoring instruments can withstand the temperature as low as -40 ° C. This is enough for most oil and natural gas processes. However, the measuring instrument running around the extreme cold circle must be able to withstand the temperature of at least -60 ° C. Challenge: Find a low -temperature resistor temperature sensor that allows it to run reliable in a very cold environment.
Design requirements for low temperature resistance thermometers
In industrial applications with extreme temperature conditions, users must determine whether the application needs to convert the measurement value to an unreasonable output signal. If so, they must decide whether to integrate the transmitter into the connecting head of the measuring instrument or install it in a separate control room.
The head -dressed launch is closer to the temperature sensor, thereby minimizing the sensitivity of the resistance signal to the fault. But when it wear in the cold climate, the transmitter will be exposed directly to the temperature. If it is not strong enough, it may cause failure. In order to obtain better overall accuracy, another method is to install the temperature transmitter in a separate control room and set it in a specified, not too extreme temperature. But this method has its own shortcomings: the connection between measuring points and temperature transmitters must be able to withstand the test of cold. To solve this problem, higher quality instrument cables may be required.
Users must also decide whether the measuring point requires local instructions, such as monitors. Electronic temperature meters with LCD monitors (LCD) will be affected by extreme cold because the crystals start to freeze at an ambient temperature of -20 ° C. When the temperature rises to the point above that point, the display is started again. To work under the extremely cold climate, the display must be able to withstand the temperature of at least -60 ° C, and the instrument must be able to restore normal operation after the temperature rises.
If the process needs to be measured continuously, there are two options for users:
● Add the second measuring point with a scale plate thermometer.
● There is a mechanical and electrical measurement device.
Plastic and metal parts under polar temperature
The service life and function of the low temperature resistance thermometer depends on the characteristics of the plastic used. According to experience, the lower the ambient temperature, the crispy plastic. At a test temperature of -60 ° C, standard plastics will soon reach the limit. As a result, the device was severely damaged and could not work properly.
Despite the temperature limit of plastic, measurement instruments cannot completely avoid using this material. For example, the vast majority of seals and instrument cables are made of plastic. It has enough high-quality plastic that can withstand the temperature as low as -250 ° C, but people first sacrifice the main reasons for using plastic: elasticity. In addition to sealing and instrument cables, other plastic parts must also be considered, such as sealing compounds, adhesives and paint surfaces. The conductivity of these materials is also a consideration, especially when the device is used in dangerous areas.
Metals are more likely to withstand low environmental temperatures, but the trick is to choose the right metal for the low temperature environment. High aluminum strength, light weight, corrosion resistance and ductility. However, aluminum alloy performs poorly in the drop test; they show more severe damage than at room temperature at low temperatures. Therefore, key components such as connectors and cable seals are usually made of stainless steel. Aluminum alloy should only be used for impact or impact is not the measurement points that affect factors.
PT100 sensor runs reliable at low temperature
The resistor temperature sensor, also known as the resistor temperature detector (RTD), has become a very popular temperature measurement equipment due to its multifunctional, accuracy, repetitiveness, easy installation and relatively wide measurement range.
For applications in the extremely cold climate, RTDs with a PT100 temperature sensor can measure the temperature as low as -200 ° C. In addition, the PT100 temperature sensor provides the best quality for reliable temperature measurement and stability, and optimizes cold conditions.
