What are the car temperature sensors

The temperature sensor of the car is used to measure the temperature in many places in the car, usually consisting of heat -sensitive resistance (thermistor), thermal power puppet, resistor temperature detector (RTD) or infrared equipment. The thermocouple is usually used for higher temperature measurement (such as exhaust temperature), while infrared sensors are used to do not want to directly contact the subject.

The working principle of the thermocouple is that the nodes of two different metals connected together can generate voltage with temperature. When you need a very fast response time, you can use the thermocouple.

RTD temperature sensor relies on the thermal rows of certain metals (usually platinum, nickel, or copper) to detect temperature changes. RTD's response to temperature changes is very linear and can achieve good accuracy.

Thermistor is made of semiconductor material with resistance with temperature changes. There are two variants of thermistor: positive temperature coefficient (PTC) and negative temperature coefficient (NTC). These types refer to the direction where the resistance changes with the rise of temperature. For example, the PTC type resistance increases with the rise of temperature. NTC temperature sensor type behavior is opposite. The thermal resistance is usually lower than that of the thermocouple or RTD temperature sensor, but they are not easily disturbed by signal.

The engine temperature sensor

The sensor is installed in the coolant circuit. The engine control module uses its signal to determine the temperature of the engine. The measurement range of such sensors is usually -40 degrees Celsius to +130 degrees Celsius.

Air temperature sensor

The air temperature sensor is installed in the intake manifold and used to measure the temperature of the engine's intake. The engine control module uses air temperature and pressure to calculate the amount of air intake. The measurement range of such sensors is usually -40 degrees Celsius to +120 degrees Celsius.

The engine oil temperature sensor

The sensor is used to calculate the temperature of the engine oil. The measurement range of the oil temperature sensor is generally -40 degrees Celsius to +170 degrees Celsius.

exhaust gas temperature sensor

The exhaust gas temperature sensor usually uses platinum measurement resistance. Information from the sensor is used to regulate the exhaust gas recycling system in the engine. The sensor is installed in the exhaust system of the engine. The measurement range is usually from -40 degrees Celsius to +1000 degrees Celsius.

fuel temperature sensor

The fuel temperature sensor is arranged along the fuel transportation system and provides feedback on the state of the fuel system to the PCM. The temperature range of these temperature sensors is between -40 and 160 degrees Celsius.

Garway box oil temperature sensor

The sensor is located on the valve body of the automatic transmission and is used to measure the temperature of the transmission oil. The measurement range of this temperature sensor is about -40 degrees to 210 degrees.

Tire and brake tray temperature sensor

These temperature sensors are usually located in the area around the tire shell, and the sensor can "view" the radiation from the tire or brake disc. Because I do not want to contact these components directly, I usually use infrared temperature sensors.

Auxiliary heater temperature sensor

Some auxiliary systems (such as seat heater) that may be installed on some vehicles will also be equipped with related temperature sensors. These sensors provide feedback to control these systems.

The temperature sensor of the carriage

The temperature sensor of the cab is usually located around or inside the steering column. It measures the temperature in the vehicle, which will send a signal to the HVAC system to increase or reduce the temperature to adapt to the required temperature range.
