Various engine sensors and their positions
Today's internal combustion engine is equipped with a large number of electronic sensors. These sensors can track everything from burning air to exhaust emissions. Electronic systems can help engines provide excellent performance, good fuel economy, and reduce the level of harmful emissions. The figure below shows the location of different electronic sensors on the GM 5.3L V8 Vortec engine. The engine is located on the right side of the engine test machine test unit.
The sensor determined below is:
● MAF (air quality flow) sensor
● Burning room temperature sensor
● The engine burst sensor
● Engine crankshaft position sensor
● Temperature sensor/intermediate catalyst on catalytic converter
● Oxygen sensor on the catalytic converter
● exhaust temperature sensor
● The throttle position sensor
Quality Air flow sensor
Air quality flow (MAF) sensor is a sensor used to measure air volume that enters the combustion chamber through intake manifolds. The air will swell and shrink with the changes in temperature and pressure. Therefore, in order to obtain the correct air and fuel ratio, the air quality that enters the combustion room is very important to enter the burning room. MAF sensor provides this information to ECM (engine control module).
Burning room temperature sensor
The temperature sensor is located in the burning room of each cylinder. These expensive sensors are only used for research purposes.
engine burst sensor < /strong>
The engine burst sensor measures or detects the vibration of incomplete combustion of the burning indoor fuel. When these vibrations are detected, ECM will be slightly delayed to ignite the right to prevent damage to the engine.
The engine crankshaft position sensor < /strong>
The crankshaft position sensor is used to determine the position of the crankshaft and the first cylinder. The data from the sensor is used to determine the speed of the engine. In addition, with the help of the sensor, the correct ignition order can control the operation of the time and fuel injection.
Trichous catalyst temperature sensor < /strong>
The temperature sensor on the catalytic converter is used to measure the temperature of the gas that enters the catalytic converter. The reactions that occur in the catalytic converter are sometimes absorbent and sometimes heat heat. So we want to measure the temperature changes of the gas in the middle of the catalytic converter, for which we use the intermediate catalytic temperature sensor.
Oxygen sensor on the catalytic converter < /strong>
Catalytic converters help reduce harmful carbon and nitrogen content in the exhaust gas of internal combustion engines. Oxygen sensor is used to determine the oxygen content in exhaust gas. The engine controller uses this information for the necessary combustion adjustment to maximize the reduction of harmful emissions and prevent catalytic transformers from overheating.
Exhaust gas temperature sensor
The temperature of the exhaust temperature sensor measures the temperature of the exhaust gas.
The throttle position sensor < /strong>
The throttle position sensor is located on the throttle body and is used to determine the position of the terrible valve. The sensor resistance changes according to the position of the valve. There are usually two redundant sensors in the same shell.
